Behind the Ventures

Why I Built SKUClear

Through The Arrogant Hippie, I produce small-batch flavor mixes and artisan culinary products across a growing number of sales channels: my own site, Faire, Amazon, Walmart, wherever the product makes sense. Every channel has its own rules about what qualifies, and every channel takes its own cut in fees and commissions.

If you've ever managed a multi-channel product line out of a spreadsheet, you know exactly what that becomes: one tab for which products qualify for which retailers, another for suppliers, another for margins per channel, and no fast way to answer a simple question like "everything we source from this vendor" without digging through all three.

Built Directly Out of Running the Business

Dealing with those multi-channel retail requirements for my own food brand is what led me to build SKUClear, now live at skuclear.co. It's a dedicated platform that helps food and beverage brands clear sales channels, map vendor relationships, calculate real margin per channel, and automate the exports each platform wants, without ever exposing the actual recipe. Only ingredient names and vendors are stored. The formulas stay mine.

The software exists because I was already doing the work by hand, badly, across three different tools that didn't talk to each other.

This is the same story behind why I built Frontlist for my publishing catalog. Solve the problem you actually have, then build the tool to share the solution. If you want to see how all the pieces fit together, The Ecosystem lays out the whole picture.
