Carson is turning 1

So in 8 days my little guy is turning one.  I can’t believe it has been a year all ready, and that I am expecting another one in just a few months.  WOW who would have guessed this last year at this time.  Let’s see, I was doing my weekly doctor appointments, in tears I might add.  The nurses were so nice to me!  I would just cry that I can’t believe I am still pregnant, I was miserable, didn’t want to be on the steroids anymore, didn’t want to gain any more weight, wanted to sleep at night, and wanted to be able to breathe comfortably.  I was having a very hard time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  It amazes me how physically miserable I was last year, how I couldn’t see the wonderful miracle that was about to be mine.

Yes labor was completely different with him then with the others.  But that was due to the fact that he was stuck with the cord wrapped around his neck and couldn’t drop.  But after 12 hours of labor, 11 of which without an epidural, and his decells for the entire time we got to welcome our little Carson Lee into this world after an emergency C-Section.

The weeks of misery were worth every last minute.  The absolute joy his smiles and laughs bring.  He can make everyone of us, including the teenagers, just stop and laugh.  How we didn’t know we were missing a part of our family.  How he has completed so much of our circle.  He loves and adores his big sisters and brothers, and they spoil him rotten.  Well so do Mom and Dad.

Watching Patrick be a father.  This silly, joking, smart aleck, serious, conservative and wonderful man be the best father I have ever seen.  His absolute lack of care of what others think of his popping up and down in front of the grocery cart, making faces and speaking in strange tones all so Carson will laugh.  His tenderness when Carson gets hurt.  His protectiveness of not only Carson, but me and our family.  I can’t believe how blessed I am too not only have had my little Carson but have my life filled with so much love.

We have had quite a year, weeks of colic.  Me being put on the MSPI diet for Carson’s intolerance to Soy and Milk Proteins.  The little bug refusing to take bottles, so 11 months of nursing, 9 of which were nursing only.  Broncholitis, Pneumonia,  Allergies, Food Allergies….

Carson has done the bi-weekly road trips to Kansas City/St. Joseph.  He has traveled to Foster, NE, Taken his first plane ride, been to California, Balboa Beach, Disneyland and Springfield, MO.

For the next twelve months, he will become a big brother, move to another state, hopefully get to Jacksonville Beach and Walt Disney World.   He will travel to Emporia, KS for Sissy and Washington or Oklahoma (depending on where brother decides to go to college).  He will have his first experience at the Omaha Zoo and maybe, just maybe he will go to his first Husker’s Football game.
